Blue and White Madras Check Cotton Long Point Collar Shirt
A long-sleeved summer shirt cut from genuine Indian madras and sewn in Somerset. The check was drawn for Drake's in faded blues and off-white, softened in the manner of madras that has been washed many times. It has a long point collar, a single chest pocket and a curved yoke. The relaxed cut is meant to be worn untucked, or under light unlined tailoring when the weather is hot.

Faded Navy and Sage Indian Madras
We picked an Indian madras woven in Chennai because it has the same open plain weave and light, airy handle as the original. Proper Cloth had no exact match for the blue and off-white check, so we took a faded navy plaid in which sage, pale yellow and cream replace the paler blues. We kept a soft unstructured point collar, one chest pocket, a front placket and mother of pearl buttons. Proper Cloth offers a split yoke rather than a curved one, so the back is built differently.
An Indian madras woven in Chennai as a plain weave from 40s single-ply cotton, very light, soft and open. The plaid is faded navy with sage green, pale yellow and cream. It has been faded in finishing, so the colours should not bleed when washed at home.
