Stone Wash Cotton-Linen Long Point Collar Work Shirt
Drake's work shirt takes the plain utility shirt of the workshop and gives it a dressier collar. It is cut from a stonewashed blend of cotton and linen in a faded chambray blue, with two buttoned flap pockets on the chest and two-button cuffs. A long point collar moves it closer to tailoring than most work shirts, while single-needle stitching and corozo buttons follow the house's usual shirtmaking. It is made in Somerset and intended for casual wear, whether outdoors at home or by the sea.
In Proper Cloth
Blue Chambray Washed Linen
We chose a washed linen chambray because Proper Cloth does not list a stonewashed cotton-linen blend, and this cloth comes closest in its faded, mixed blue colour and dry, slubby surface. We set a point collar, two-button cuffs, a front placket, two flap chest pockets, a curved hem and natural corozo buttons to follow the original. Proper Cloth's pocket options do not include a mitred button-flap patch pocket, so we used its western pocket, which keeps the buttoned flap but has a different shape, and the shirt was made with a split yoke.
A lightweight plain-weave chambray in pure linen, spun from 14s single-ply yarns and washed for a softer hand. Yarns in several shades of blue give it a varied, natural colour with a slubby texture. It breathes well in warm weather, creases readily and is meant to be worn without much pressing.
