Indigo Cotton Oxford Cloth Button-Down Shirt
Drake's treats the oxford button-down as central to its range, and this indigo version is its attempt at a definitive form of a shirt with roughly a century of history behind it. It is made in the company's Somerset factory with single-needle seams, floating interlinings and a soft collar cut to roll rather than lie flat. The silhouette is regular, and the shirt is intended to work across a wide range of occasions, from casual dress to wear under tailoring.

Portuguese Dark Wash Indigo Oxford
We chose a dark indigo oxford woven in Portugal because it comes closest to the depth of colour and the solid, slightly textured surface of the original cloth. We kept the main details the same: a soft button-down collar, a one-button barrel cuff, a front placket, a single flap chest pocket, a curved hem and mother of pearl buttons. Proper Cloth's version is garment washed, so it starts out slightly softer and will fade at the seams over time, which a plain dyed Italian oxford will not do in the same way. The mitred, pleated form of the Drake's pocket and the back box pleat are not part of the specification as made, so we used a single flap pocket and a one-piece yoke.
A medium-weight, all-cotton oxford from Portugal, heavily dyed with indigo and given a light bleach wash after the shirt is sewn. It has a fair amount of heft and an open, breathable weave, starts out an even deep indigo, and gradually fades along the seams as it is worn.

- A light bleach wash allows the deep indigo coloring to come out of the box fairly uniform. From sourcing the perfect denim from Japan and Europe to testing washes with our factory for months on end, we labor over every detail of our washed indigo shirts. After being cut and sewn, the shirts are then garment washed using either a light enzyme, soda, or bleaching process. While garment washed indigo and denim shirts are a popular product in the ready-to-wear market, they haven‘t previously been available in a custom fit or design due to the bulk production required for the washing process.
