Brown Wool Two-Pocket Work Shirt
Drake's two-pocket work shirt takes the plain utility shirt of the workshop and recuts it in a soft brown wool flannel made in Portugal. The design keeps to a few practical details: a long point collar, two flapped chest pockets for small essentials, single-button rounded cuffs and a curved hem. It is finished with fisheye corozo buttons and single-needle seams, and is intended to be worn as a casual shirt or as a light layer over other clothes.
In Proper Cloth
Canclini Dark Brown Beacon Flannel
We chose a dark brown solid cotton flannel from Canclini because it comes closest to the colour, plain surface and brushed softness of the original's wool. We set a point collar, one-button barrel cuffs, a front placket, a curved hem and natural corozo buttons to follow the original. Proper Cloth offers no wool flannel of this kind, so the cloth is cotton, and the two chest pockets were made in its western style, which differs from Drake's plain flap patch pockets.
A heavyweight cotton flannel woven in Italy by Canclini from 50s two-ply yarns and brushed to a smooth, dense nap. It is a solid dark brown and has a softer drape than most workwear flannels, so it sits between a casual shirt and dress shirting.
