Red Check Brushed Cotton Two-Pocket Work Shirt
A two-pocket work shirt in a heavy brushed cotton, made in Somerset and intended to sit between workwear and town dress. It takes the practical pattern of the utility shirt, with flapped chest pockets that keep small items out of the trousers, and finishes it with the single-needle sewing and corozo buttons found across Drake's shirting. It is meant for ordinary casual wear, from outdoor jobs at home to days by the sea, worn on its own or as a light outer layer.

In Proper Cloth
Kent Cranberry and Grey Melange Lightweight Flannel
We chose a red-based cotton flannel check because it was the nearest Proper Cloth offered to the original's warm brushed plaid, and we accepted a lighter cloth and a simpler two-colour palette to get it. We set the design to follow the original's main lines: a soft spread collar, one-button rounded barrel cuffs, a front placket, flapped chest pockets, a curved hem and natural corozo buttons. Proper Cloth's flannel is lighter than the original's heavyweight cloth, and its rounded flap pockets are not described as pleated, so the shirt is likely to be flatter and less substantial than the Somerset original.
A 100% cotton flannel in 50s yarn, lightly brushed and kept smooth on the face, so it looks cleaner than a heavy work flannel. It is a cranberry red and grey melange plaid, and is light enough to wear alone in mild weather or under a jumper when it is colder.
