White Check Brushed Cotton Two-Pocket Work Shirt
A two-pocket work shirt made in Somerset, England, from a substantial brushed cotton checked in white with red, teal, yellow and black. It takes its cue from plain utility shirting: twin pleated pockets with button flaps carry small items, so the trousers don't have to. The spread collar and rounded cuffs are lined with a brushed floating interlining. Drake's finishes it as it does its other shirts, with single-needle seams and corozo buttons. It is meant for casual days, whether working outdoors or by the sea.

Jackson Blue Red and Gold Country Plaid
Proper Cloth offered no close match for the white-ground brushed check, so we chose a heavy, textured cotton plaid of a similar large scale and rugged character. The colours are blue, red and gold, where the original has a white ground. We kept the main lines of the original: a soft spread collar, one-button barrel cuffs, a front placket and pleated button-flap chest pockets, which Proper Cloth calls safari pockets. We also chose natural corozo buttons. The cloth is a slubby twill rather than a brushed flannel, so its texture comes from the yarn rather than from a raised nap.
A heavyweight cotton twill woven in Portugal from thick 10s yarns. Its slubby, irregular surface gives it a rustic hand. The large plaid in blue, red and gold has a vintage look, and the cloth should wear hard and soften with use.
