Blue, White and Yellow Stripe Linen Long Point Collar Shirt
This is a summer shirt in lightweight linen, striped in blue, yellow and burgundy on a white ground with stripes of varying width. It is built around linen's tendency to crease softly and fade with wear, so it is expected to look lived in rather than pressed. Drake's makes it in its Somerset factory to a regular silhouette with single-needle seams, a long point collar on a floating interlining, a box pleat and a chest pocket. It suits being worn open under a tailored jacket or on its own.

Baird McNutt Blue Irish Linen Stripe
We chose an Irish linen stripe from Baird McNutt because it matches the original's fibre, weight and plain linen texture, and it has the uneven slub that lets linen soften and crumple the way the Drake's shirt does. Proper Cloth had no stripe with the same mix of blue, yellow and burgundy, so we took a blue stripe and accepted a simpler palette. We kept the front placket, the single chest pocket, the one-button cuffs and the mother of pearl buttons. Where the options differed, we used Proper Cloth's soft point collar in place of a long point and its angled single-button pocket in place of a plain patch pocket.
A pure linen in a plain weave, woven and finished by Baird McNutt, the Irish mill on the Kellswater River whose history goes back to 1798. It is lightweight, woven from 25s yarn, with a soft hand and the uneven, slubbed surface typical of linen. It is striped in blue and should crease and soften as it is worn.
