Light Blue Check Brushed Cotton Two-Pocket Western Shirt

This is Drake's take on the familiar Western shirt, made in England with the house's single-needle construction. It is cut from a brushed herringbone cotton in a small light blue check, with two flapped chest pockets and pointed yokes front and back. The cloth is meant to be hard-wearing and to soften and take on character over years of use, so the shirt sits on the casual side, worn open at the neck or as a light overshirt.

Jackson Blue Red and Gold Country Plaid

Proper Cloth had no brushed herringbone in a small multicolour check, so we chose a heavyweight Portuguese cotton twill with a similar sturdy, outdoor character and a blue, red and gold colouring. We set the Western front, Western pockets and Western yoke, a point collar, two-button cuffs, a straight hem and mother-of-pearl buttons to follow the original. The cloth's pattern is a much larger plaid than Drake's fine check, and its texture comes from slubby yarns rather than brushing. Those are the main points where the two shirts part company.

A heavyweight 100% cotton twill woven in Portugal from thick 10s yarns, which gives it a slubby, rustic surface and a firm hand. It is a large plaid in blue with red and gold, and it is built to be hard-wearing for cold-weather casual use.
