Blue Brushed Tablecloth Cotton Two-Pocket Western Shirt

Drake's two-pocket western shirt takes the familiar ranch shirt of the American West and makes it in England with single-needle seams. It is cut from a brushed cotton woven in a small multicoloured check of the kind found on tablecloths, with a sky blue ground crossed by red, white, yellow, green and navy. The details follow western convention: pointed front yokes, two flapped chest pockets and a curved tail. It is a hard-wearing casual shirt, meant to soften and take on character with years of wear.

Jackson Blue Red and Gold Country Plaid

We chose a Portuguese heavyweight cotton twill in a blue, red and gold plaid, the closest Proper Cloth option to the original's multicoloured check and sturdy, textured hand. We set a western front, western yoke, western pockets, two-button cuffs and mother of pearl buttons to follow the original's construction. Proper Cloth offers no brushed tablecloth check at this scale, so we accepted a larger plaid with a slubby surface and a heavier weight, and used a soft point collar with a shallow curved hem in place of the original's western points and full shirttail.

A heavyweight cotton twill woven in Portugal from thick 10s yarns, which give it a slubby, rustic surface and a hard-wearing feel. It carries a large plaid in blue, red and gold with a vintage character and suits cold-weather casual wear.
