Dark Blue and White Bengal Stripe Spread Collar Cotton Poplin Shirt
This is a dress shirt in a smooth cotton poplin, striped in dark blue and white at the medium width known as a Bengal stripe. The Bengal stripe has long been a staple of English shirting, bolder than a pencil stripe but still suited to a suit and tie. Drake's make it at their Somerset factory with a spread collar, a box pleat at the back and a rounded single-button cuff. It is intended for the office and for weekends alike.

Thomas Mason Blue Bengal Stripe Broadcloth
We chose a Thomas Mason Bengal stripe because it matches the original on stripe type, fibre and weight. Proper Cloth calls it a broadcloth, which is a plain weave close to poplin. We kept the details that define the shirt: a soft spread collar, a one-button barrel cuff, a front placket, a curved hem and mother of pearl buttons. Proper Cloth's standard back has a split yoke, and the recorded design does not list a box pleat, so the back is built differently from the original.
A 100s two-ply cotton broadcloth from Thomas Mason, light in weight, with a smooth, soft hand and more opacity than most broadcloths. It is striped in blue and white at Bengal width. It presses crisp for tailored wear and also looks right worn a little creased.
