Blue Pencil Stripe Cotton Poplin Button-Down Shirt
Drake's cuts this shirt in a light, smooth cotton poplin with a fine blue pencil stripe on white, and sews it at its own factory in Somerset. It follows the soft button-down tradition, with a collar built on a brushed interlining that floats rather than being fused. Details such as the box pleat, point pocket and whipped mother of pearl buttons give it a measured, traditional finish. It is meant to suit a working week and a weekend equally, with or without a tie.

Thomas Mason Blue Bengal Stripe Broadcloth
We chose a lightweight two-ply Thomas Mason broadcloth in blue and white stripes, the nearest plain-weave cotton to Drake's poplin. Proper Cloth had no pencil stripe of this kind in the cloth we used, so we accepted a broader bengal stripe in the same colours. We set a soft Ivy button-down collar, a front placket, one-button cuffs, a single chest pocket, a curved hem and mother of pearl buttons to follow the original. Proper Cloth's options led us to an angled pocket in place of the point pocket and a one-piece yoke in place of the split inner yoke, and no box pleat is listed.
A 100s two-ply cotton broadcloth woven by Thomas Mason, light in weight with a smooth, fine hand and fairly good opacity for its type. It carries evenly spaced blue and white bengal stripes, and it can be pressed crisp or worn slightly rumpled.
