Blue and White Stripe Linen Pyjama Set
This is the shirt half of a pyjama set, taken from the plain, loose sleepwear of the past and cut in a striped linen and cotton cloth from Italy. It has a soft rounded collar, three patch pockets and a square hem, with mother of pearl buttons down the front. It is made in Somerset and sold with matching drawstring trousers in the same cloth, so it can be worn as loungewear or as a light shirt in warm weather.

Baird McNutt Blue Irish Linen Stripe
We chose a lightweight blue striped Irish linen from Baird McNutt because it has the original's colour, light weight and dry, slightly uneven linen surface. We set a soft one-piece collar, a French front, a straight hem and mother of pearl buttons to keep the relaxed character of a pyjama shirt. Proper Cloth's options led us to one-button barrel cuffs where the original has plain cuffs with no buttons, and to a single square chest pocket where the original has three patch pockets. The piece is made as a shirt only, with no matching trousers.
A pure linen plain weave from Baird McNutt, the Irish mill on the Kellswater River, woven from 25s yarn in a light weight. It has a soft, textured hand with the irregular slubs typical of linen, and a blue and white stripe. It breathes well in heat and will crease and soften with wear and washing.
