Ecru Corduroy Two-Pocket Western Shirt
Drake's ecru western shirt takes the working shirt of the American West and gives it a quieter, more finished treatment. It is cut from Japanese cotton needlecord and made in Italy with single-needle seams and mother of pearl buttons. The western details are kept: pointed yokes, two flapped chest pockets and two-button cuffs. It is meant for hard everyday use, with the cord softening and fading gently as it ages.
In Proper Cloth
Ketchum Beige Cotton Corduroy
We chose a fine 20-wale cotton corduroy in beige as the closest Proper Cloth match to the pale, fine-ribbed needlecord of the original. We set the western yoke and western chest pockets, a point collar, a front placket, a shallow curved hem and mother of pearl buttons to follow the original. Proper Cloth offers a squared two-button cuff rather than a rounded barrel, and quarter-inch stitching rather than edge stitching, so we took those. Proper Cloth names the pockets only as western, so it is not certain they have the same double-point flaps.
A 100% cotton 20-wale corduroy woven in Spain, made so the cloth has some natural stretch without any added elastic fibre. It comes in a solid beige. Proper Cloth lists it as heavyweight but says it is lighter in hand than most corduroy and wears more like a soft twill, so it suits three seasons of the year.
