Brown Check Wool Two-Pocket Camp Collar Work Shirt
A long-sleeved work shirt in brown checked wool flannel, made in Italy. It takes its lines from the utility shirt, with an open camp collar for ease of movement and two flap pockets that hold small things so the trousers need not. Its finish is quieter than its origins suggest, with fisheye corozo buttons and single-needle seams. It works in the workshop and at the weekend, worn alone or as a light outer layer.
In Proper Cloth
Canclini Beige and Grey Plaid Beacon Flannel
We chose a brushed Italian flannel with a large plaid to carry the soft hand and bold check of the original. Proper Cloth offers no wool flannel of the right kind, so we used a cotton flannel that is heavier, and a beige and grey check in place of the brown. We matched the open one-piece collar, the one-button barrel cuffs, the two flap chest pockets, the curved hem and the natural corozo buttons. Proper Cloth's Italian front has no separate placket, so the front edge is plainer than on the Drake's shirt.
A brushed cotton flannel woven by Canclini near Lake Como from 50s two-ply yarns. It is heavy and dense with a soft, full hand, yet it still breathes. The pattern is a cool beige and grey plaid, and the cloth suits wearing on its own or layered over other shirts.
