Olive Cotton Field Shirt
Drake's field shirt is a solid olive overshirt cut from a heavy Italian cotton twill and made in Somerset. Its design takes its cue from British military shirting of the twentieth century, keeping the practical features of a service shirt: two flapped patch pockets on the chest, reinforced cuffs and a square hem. It is intended as a layering piece, worn open over a T-shirt or closed as a shirt in cooler weather.

Japanese Olive Cotton Selvedge Twill
We chose a Japanese selvedge cotton twill in a warm olive, since it matches the original's solid colour, twill weave and all-cotton composition at a weight close to Drake's. We set a soft semi-spread collar, one-button barrel cuffs, a soft front placket, flapped chest pockets and brown horn buttons to follow the original's details. Proper Cloth's pocket options led us to rounded flaps in place of Drake's pointed ones, and the cloth is washed after sewing, so it starts with a softer, more broken-in look than the original.
A selvedge cotton twill woven in Japan from 20s single-ply yarns, in a solid warm olive. It sits at the heavier end of the medium range and is given a casual wash after the shirt is sewn, which leaves it soft to the hand with slight puckering along the seams, much like a shirt that has already been worn for some time.
