Navy Cotton Overshirt
This is a navy cotton overshirt, a garment that sits somewhere between a shirt and a light jacket and comes from both workwear and military dress. Drake's based this version on twentieth century work clothing. It has a relaxed cut, a straight hem and three outer pockets, and is made in Somerset from organic cotton twill. Mother of pearl buttons give a plain, sturdy garment a quieter finish. It is meant to be worn open or closed as an outer layer over a shirt or knitwear.

Rustic Navy Slub Twill
We chose a Japanese navy slub twill because it matches the original's dark solid colour and its visibly uneven, textured twill surface. We set a soft unfused point collar, a wide front placket, a single flap chest pocket, a straight hem and smoke mother of pearl buttons to follow the original. The design as made has one chest pocket and leaves out the two lower patch pockets and the internal pocket. Proper Cloth's shirt construction also adds a one piece yoke and buttoned barrel cuffs.
This is a heavyweight cotton twill woven in Japan from thick single-ply yarns, with a pronounced slub that gives it a rough, rustic surface. The colour is a dark navy with slight variation through the yarns. It is a hard-wearing cloth suited to casual wear.
