Navy Wool-Cotton Artist Chore Jacket
This is Drake's Artist Chore Jacket, a variation on the house's five-pocket chore coat that draws on the loose work clothes worn in painters' and sculptors' studios through the twentieth century. It keeps the band collar, raglan sleeves and generous patch pockets of a working garment, and closes with corded self-fabric knot buttons in place of ordinary buttons. It is made in Portugal and is meant to be worn as a light outer layer over shirts and knitwear.

Rustic Navy Slub Twill
We chose a dark navy cotton twill from Japan with a slubbed, uneven surface, so that the plain navy of the original keeps some texture and does not read as flat. We set a band collar, one-button barrel cuffs, a straight hem and large rounded patch pockets to follow the original's outline. Proper Cloth does not offer knot closures, raglan sleeves or a wool and metal blend, so we used a soft front placket with navy corozo buttons, a one-piece yoke with set-in sleeves, and an all-cotton cloth.
A heavyweight cotton twill woven in Japan from thick, coarse single-ply yarns, which give it a pronounced slub and a dry, rugged hand. The colour is a deep navy with slight variation across the surface, and the cloth is made to be hard-wearing and casual.
