Sand Linen Smock
Drake's sand linen smock is a pullover overshirt. It descends from the smocks once worn by artists and labourers, garments that moved from the workplace into ordinary dress. Here it is cut in pure linen, with a relaxed, boxy body ending at the hip, and fastens at the neck with a single button and corded loop. It is made in Portugal and is meant as light outerwear for spring and early summer, worn loose over a t-shirt.

Positano Khaki Embroidered Italian Linen Blend
We chose a khaki linen and cotton blend from Leomaster because its colour sits close to the original's sand and khaki, and its dry, open texture keeps something of linen's character. We set the shirt as a popover with a single square chest pocket, a straight hem and cream horn buttons to follow the smock's simple, pulled-on form. Proper Cloth does not offer a camp collar, an open sleeve hem or a loop-and-button closure, so we used a soft point collar, one-button barrel cuffs with no sleeve placket button, and a conventional buttoned popover placket.
An Italian cloth from the Leomaster mill, woven as a dobby in 54% linen and 46% cotton, with a soft finish and a very heavy weight. It is solid khaki, with tone-on-tone embroidery forming a small checked pattern that runs in diagonal chevron stripes and leaves fine perforations, giving the surface a faint mesh-like look. It keeps linen's breathability, and the cotton should make it crease a little less than pure linen.
