Brown Linen Gabardine Games Blazer Mk. III
The Games Blazer Mk. III is the double-breasted version of Drake's Games jacket, a soft tailored coat cut a little shorter and fuller than the house's traditional tailoring. It pairs the buttoning and broad peak lapels of a classic blazer with the patch pockets and plain construction of a work jacket. It is made in Italy from a custom-dyed brown linen gabardine, with no canvas or lining in the body and a natural shoulder. It is meant for everyday wear, sitting at the relaxed end of formal dress.
In Proper Cloth
Double Breasted Tobacco Irish Linen Carmine Jacket
We chose Baird McNutt's tobacco Irish linen because it is a solid, all-linen cloth in a warm brown close to the original's colour. Proper Cloth does not offer a linen gabardine, so we accepted a plain weave, which is also heavier and has a more irregular surface. We matched the six-button double-breasted peak lapel front, the uncanvassed and unlined build, the ventless back, the patch pockets and the mother of pearl buttons. For the twin passport pockets inside we used Proper Cloth's traveller interior pockets, and we set four kissing buttons at the cuff.
A heavy Irish linen from Baird McNutt, a mill working since 1798, woven plain at around 400 g in a solid tobacco brown. Its slightly uneven yarns give a textured surface with gentle shifts in tone, and its hand is smooth but dry. Like most linen it breathes well, drapes with some weight and creases readily in wear.
