Grey Prince of Wales Check Wool Flannel Tailored Jacket
This is a two-button sport coat in grey Prince of Wales check flannel, a pattern that has moved from country dress into everyday town tailoring. Drake's cuts it to its house pattern, which sits closer to the body than its Games range, and keeps the shoulder soft and natural. It is half-canvassed and unlined, made in Italy, with patch hip pockets, a patch ticket pocket and a curved barchetta breast pocket, so it reads as a relaxed jacket that can be worn with odd trousers or more casual clothes.

Angelico Grey Glen Plaid Italian Wool Flannel
We chose a brushed Italian wool flannel in a grey glen plaid because it is the closest match in fibre, finish and pattern to the Drake's cloth. We kept the build soft, with half-canvas construction, an unlined body, a two-button notch lapel and patch pockets, and used dark horn buttons. Proper Cloth's jacket has functional four-button kissing cuffs where Drake's uses a sham cuff, and its options do not list a patch ticket pocket, so this version goes without one.
A dense 100% wool flannel from Lanificio Angelico, an Italian mill founded in the 1950s. It is brushed to a soft, napped hand and sits at the heavier end of medium weight. The grey glen plaid is tonal and low in contrast, which suits autumn and winter wear.
