Ecru Gun Club Check Tweed Blazer

Drake's single-breasted sports jacket is cut from a Scottish Borders tweed with an ecru ground and a gun club check. The gun club check started as country cloth and has long moved between town and field, and the jacket follows it there. The jacket is built on the house's soft tailoring: a natural shoulder, gentle waist suppression, full canvas and a wide lapel with a full belly. It is meant to be worn with flannel trousers in town or with denim at weekends.

VBC Brown and Burgundy Guncheck Downing Jacket

We chose a Vitale Barberis Canonico merino flannel in a brown and burgundy gun check because it was the closest check of this kind on offer, though it is a brushed flannel rather than a woollen tweed and sits on a darker ground. We matched the soft full-canvas make, the 3-roll-2 notch lapel, the patch pockets and the dark brown horn buttons. Proper Cloth's options led us to a half lining in place of Drake's buggy lining, and to four kissing cuff buttons rather than three.

A merino wool flannel woven by Vitale Barberis Canonico in Biella, medium to heavy in weight, with a brushed and slightly fuzzy hand. The check is brown and burgundy on a gun club layout and suits autumn and winter wear.
