Black Tussah Silk Double-Breasted Evening Jacket
This evening jacket takes the double-breasted black tie jacket and cuts it in tussah silk rather than the usual smooth wool or barathea. It is softly tailored on Drake's house pattern, with a natural shoulder, peaked lapels with a gentle belly and patch pockets. The slubbed silk gives it a looser, more textured character than conventional dinner wear, while the cut and colour keep it formal. It was made in Italy for evenings that call for black tie handled with less stiffness.

Black Indian Matka Silk Downing Jacket
We chose a black Indian matka silk because it shares the irregular, slubbed surface that defines the tussah original, although it reads more matte. We matched the six-button double-breasted front, the peak lapels, the patch pockets, the soft half-canvassed make and the full lining. Proper Cloth offered no black mother of pearl, so we chose smoke faux pearl buttons, and the cuffs are set as four kissing buttons rather than the original's non-working cuffs.
An Indian matka silk in a hopsack weave, at a medium weight of around 260 grams. It is solid black with a dry, slubby hand and a matte surface somewhat like linen, and the natural irregularity of the yarn gives it depth. It should keep its texture with wear but will crease more readily than wool.
