Custom Wash 14.2oz Japanese Selvedge Denim Five-Pocket Jeans
A five-pocket jean in heavy Japanese selvedge denim, woven on a shuttle loom in Okayama and dyed with natural indigo. The pattern follows the classic workwear jean, with a slightly higher rise, room through the seat and thigh, and a leg that narrows towards the hem. It is washed before sale to a medium indigo with fading at the thighs and seat, and is finished with copper rivets, hidden rivets behind the back pockets and a slanted back pocket of its own design. It is made in Portugal and suits everyday wear with work shirts, knitwear and casual jackets.

Dean Stretch Relaxed Jean in Salt Wash Japanese Denim
We chose a medium wash Japanese indigo denim to match the original's washed mid blue, and set the classic jean details: five pockets, a metal button fly, copper tack buttons, belt loops and gold thread in place of the original's orange tan stitching. We took Proper Cloth's relaxed fit as the nearest match for the original's easy seat and thigh. The cloth on offer is lighter than the original at 12oz and has a small amount of elastane, which we accepted for the colour and wash. Proper Cloth's own patch back pockets stand in for the slanted pocket design, and there is no option for hidden rivets or a leather patch.
A Japanese woven denim at 12oz, of 98% cotton and 2% elastane, in a salt wash medium indigo. It is a middle weight that keeps its shape in a fuller cut and can be worn for most of the year, and the small stretch content adds some give.
