Grey Prince of Wales Check Wool Flannel Single-Pleat Trouser
This is Drake's standard tailored trouser, shown here in a grey Prince of Wales check flannel woven in Huddersfield. The design draws on classic English trouser making: a single pleat at each side of the front, a tab front with an inner bearer, and side adjusters in place of belt loops. The rise sits at the natural waist and the leg narrows a little towards the hem, so it suits a soft jacket or a knit as much as a suit coat. It is made in Italy and sent out with the hems left open for finishing to length.

VBC Grey Glen Plaid Wool Flannel Dress Pant
We chose a Vitale Barberis Canonico merino flannel in a low-contrast grey glen plaid, since it comes closest to the original's brushed handle, muted colour and check. We set the trouser with single pleats, an extended button tab, side seam pockets, a zip fly, dark grey horn buttons, plain hems and a knee lining to match the original's main features. Proper Cloth's design as made has belt loops rather than side adjusters, and it does not list a curtained waistband, a French bearer or an after-dinner split at the rear, so those details are not carried over.
A pure merino wool flannel from Vitale Barberis Canonico in Biella, woven in a grey glen plaid with gentle, low-contrast variation in tone. It is described as medium heavyweight, with a soft brushed surface, and it suits autumn and winter wear.
