Charcoal Pinstripe Wool Flannel Single Pleat Trouser
This is the house trouser from Drake's, here cut in a charcoal pinstripe flannel from a long-established Huddersfield mill and made up in Italy. It draws on traditional English tailoring, with a mid-rise, a single reverse pleat and a leg that falls straight before tapering gently. The construction keeps to older conventions: side adjusters in place of belt loops, an extended tab with a French bearer, a curtained waistband and an after-dinner split at the back. The stripe makes it a little more formal than plain flannel, but it is meant to be worn with tailoring and with knitwear alike.

VBC Grey Chalkstripe Wool Flannel Dress Pant
We chose a grey chalkstripe merino flannel from Vitale Barberis Canonico because it has the same brushed, soft surface and striped grey character as the original. We matched the single pleat, the extended button tab, side seam pockets, a buttoned rear pocket, dark grey horn buttons, a zip fly, an uncuffed hem and lining at the knee. Proper Cloth's design options did not offer side adjusters, so we used belt loops, and the after-dinner split is not part of this version.
A merino wool flannel woven by Vitale Barberis Canonico in Biella, Italy, at a medium-heavy weight suited to autumn and winter. It has a brushed, slightly fuzzy hand and a grey ground with a chalkstripe, and it should wear warm while still breathing.
