Stone Wash Indigo Cotton Drawstring Shorts
This is a pair of drawstring shorts cut from densely woven, stone washed indigo cotton denim and made in Portugal. The idea borrows from vintage casual wear: a high rise, an elasticated waist tied with a white cord, and raw edges left to fray at the waistband and hem. Slanted hand pockets at the front and two pockets behind keep it practical, and the washed denim gives a soft, broken-in hand from new. It is meant for warm weather and easy, informal dressing.

Dean Stretch Relaxed Jean in Dark Wash Japanese Denim
We chose a Japanese 12oz indigo denim to keep the cotton twill character and the blue colouring of the original, accepting a darker wash because Proper Cloth's range did not offer a direct match for the pale stone wash. We set an elasticated drawstring waistband, angled side pockets, square patch back pockets and no pleats to follow the Drake's layout. Proper Cloth builds this on its relaxed jean pattern, so it comes with a zip fly and button and a wide finished hem rather than a cord-only closure and a raw, frayed edge.
A 12oz indigo denim woven in Japan from 98% cotton with 2% elastane, finished in a dark wash. It has a firm, substantial hand that holds a fuller cut cleanly, a small amount of give from the stretch content, and it should keep its structure while fading gradually with wear.
