Black Linen Games Dinner Trousers
These are black linen dinner trousers cut to be worn with a matching linen dinner jacket, a deliberately relaxed reading of the evening suit. The idea takes the formal signals of black tie, a single pleat and a stripe down the outer leg, and carries them in Irish linen rather than barathea or wool. Black Linen Palermo Drawstring Pant
We chose a solid black plain-weave linen from Portugal, since it gives the same dry, slightly slubbed surface and dark colour as the Irish linen of the original. We built the trousers on Proper Cloth's dress pant pattern rather than its drawstring style, setting single pleats, a zip fly, a button-through waistband tab, side seam pockets, charcoal horn buttons and a plain blind hem to follow the original's tailored details. Proper Cloth offered no sateen leg stripe and no side adjusters, so we left the outer seam plain and used belt loops at the waist, and we chose an angled flap back pocket as the closest match to the original's buttoned flap pocket.
A 100% linen woven in Portugal in a plain weave, listed as a medium weight, in solid black. It has a soft, broken-in hand and the natural slub of linen. It breathes well and creases readily as it is worn.
