Ecru, Brown and Navy Check Cotton Two-Pocket Long Point Collar Work Shirt
A casual work shirt in a large check of ecru, brown and navy, cut from brushed cotton on Drake's relaxed casual block. It borrows from the plain utility shirt of the workshop and pairs that idea with a long point collar more usually found on dressier shirts. Two flap pockets on the chest carry small essentials, and the curved hem lets it be worn tucked in or loose. It is made in Italy with single-needle seams and mother of pearl buttons, and suits weekend wear with denim or heavier trousers.
In Proper Cloth
Jackson Tan and Brown Country Plaid
We chose a large-scale cotton plaid in warm neutrals to match the original's broad check and its earthy palette, accepting a slubby heavyweight twill in place of the brushed midweight flannel. Proper Cloth offered no close match with the navy thread, so the tan and brown country plaid was the nearest in scale and tone. We kept the twin flap chest pockets, a one-button cuff, the curved hem and mother of pearl buttons. Proper Cloth's collar and pocket options led us to a soft point collar in place of the long point and to western-style pocket flaps, and the shirt was made with a split yoke.
A heavyweight cotton twill woven in Portugal from thick, slubby 10s yarns, which give it an uneven, rustic surface and a sturdy hand. The pattern is a large plaid in tan and brown with a vintage character. It is a hard-wearing, casual cloth suited to cold-weather wear.
