Tattersall Cotton Two-Pocket Western Shirt

This is the western shirt recast in tattersall, the small country check that has long been a staple of English shirting. The idea is to bring the yokes and flapped pockets of ranch wear together with a cloth more often seen in town and in the office. It is cut in a lightweight cotton and made in England, with edge-stitched single-point yokes, two double-point flap pockets and two-button barrel cuffs. It is meant as a hard-wearing shirt that softens and takes on character over years of wear.

William Green and Blue Tattersall

We looked for a lightweight cotton in a fine tattersall grid and settled on a green and blue tattersall twill, which keeps the scale and the green line of the original but sets it with blue in place of brown. We could not find a matching oxford tattersall, so the weave is a smoother twill. We set the western front, western pockets and western yoke with edge stitching to follow the original's construction, and chose a soft point collar, two-button cuffs and cream buttons to match its details as closely as the options allowed.

A lightweight cotton twill in 70s yarn, woven in a fine tattersall grid of green and blue on a light ground. It has a smooth, close surface not far from broadcloth, breathes well and resists creasing reasonably well. The weaver is not named.
