Red Wool Two-Pocket Work Shirt
Drake's two-pocket work shirt borrows the outline of the plain utility shirt and makes it in a soft Italian wool, so that it serves as an overshirt as well as a shirt. Its two flapped chest pockets come from workwear and give somewhere to carry small things without filling the trouser pockets. The finishing is kept quiet, with a long point collar, single-button cuffs, a curved hem and single-needle seams. It is made in Portugal and is meant to be worn on its own or open over a layer, at work or at the weekend.

Canclini Burgundy Melange Twill Beacon Flannel
We chose a brushed Canclini flannel in a deep burgundy melange, the closest warm red we could find in a soft, napped cloth, though it is cotton rather than wool. We set a point collar, one-button cuffs, a front placket, two flapped chest pockets, a shallow curved hem and natural corozo buttons to follow the original's plain work-shirt build. Proper Cloth offers flapped chest pockets only in its western style, so we used those, and its quarter-inch edge stitching stands in for Drake's single-needle finish.
A heavyweight cotton flannel woven by Canclini near Lake Como from 50s two-ply yarn in a twill weave and brushed on both faces for a dense, soft hand. The colour is a deep burgundy melange that reads as a solid from a distance and shows a slight heathered depth up close. Its weight makes it warm enough to wear as a light overshirt.
