Blue, Red and Cream Check Brushed Cotton Two-Pocket Work Shirt
Drake's work shirt takes the plain utility shirt and makes it in a brushed cotton heavy enough to wear as a light outer layer. This version has a large navy, cream and red check, with two flapped chest pockets and a spread collar. It is made in Somerset with single-needle seams and mother of pearl buttons, like the firm's other shirting. It suits casual dress, worn open over a T-shirt or buttoned under a knit.

Portuguese Blue and Red Plaid Twill
We chose a blue and red plaid twill from Somelos because it is soft and has some weight, which comes closest to the original's brushed cotton among Proper Cloth's casual cloths. We set a soft English spread collar, soft one-button barrel cuffs, a soft front placket and mother of pearl buttons to match the Drake's details. For the two pleated, buttoned chest pockets we used Proper Cloth's safari pockets. The hem is Proper Cloth's shallow curved hem, because the options do not include the original's deeper shirttail with side vents.
A single-ply 50s cotton twill woven in Portugal by Somelos. Proper Cloth lists it as lightweight but describes it as a soft, medium-weight cloth. It has a blue and red plaid and is intended for autumn and winter as a smoother alternative to flannel that can be dressed up a little more.
