White and Blue Stripe Linen-Cotton Long Point Collar Shirt

A white shirt with a fine blue stripe, cut on Drake's casual block so that it sits easily and without much shaping. The long point collar takes its cue from shirting of the mid-twentieth century, and the single pleated flap pocket gives the front a slightly utilitarian note. It is made in Somerset from a Japanese cotton with a small share of linen, and is intended for relaxed wear, open at the neck or under a soft jacket.

Thomas Mason Luxury Light Blue Alternating Stripe

We chose a fine, very light Thomas Mason broadcloth with a blue stripe on a pale ground, as the nearest match among Proper Cloth's cloths to a light, smooth striped shirting. We set the cuffs, placket, flap pocket, curved hem and mother of pearl buttons to follow the original. Proper Cloth does not offer the same elongated collar, so we used a soft point collar, and the cloth is all cotton, so the dry touch of the linen is not reproduced.

A two-ply 120s broadcloth woven by Thomas Mason from Egyptian cotton, very light, smooth and fine to the hand. The stripe alternates wide light blue bands with thin darker blue lines that lean faintly towards lavender. It presses well but creases readily in wear.

Care
While the fine weave and high thread count of this broadcloth doesn’t make for the most wrinkle-resistant style, it irons up beautifully in a flash. Finish: No Treatment.
