Grey Nailhead Linen-Wool Double-Breasted Tailored Jacket
Drake's double-breasted jacket follows the house tailoring silhouette: soft in structure, fastened 6x2, and finished with peak lapels. It is fully canvassed with a chest shaped by hand, and the collar and sleeves are set by hand so that the jacket follows the body as it is worn. The cloth is a heavy linen and wool nailhead woven in Prato, chosen for the dry handle of linen together with the warmth and resilience of wool. It was made as part of a suit, so it can be worn with matching trousers or on its own with separate tailoring.
In Proper Cloth
Grey Italian Merino Knit Sport Coat
We could not find a linen and wool nailhead among Proper Cloth's cloths, so we chose a heavyweight Italian grey melange knit of merino and cotton. Its piqué surface gives a small, even texture comparable in scale to the nailhead, and its mixed mid grey matches the overall tone. We set the cut to match the original: a soft, fully canvassed double-breasted jacket with six buttons and peak lapels, flapped hip pockets with a ticket pocket, dark brown horn buttons and a full lining. Proper Cloth offered side vents and four kissing buttons at the cuff, which we chose for these details.
An Italian knit of merino wool and cotton with a little nylon, worked as a piqué so that its surface looks much like a hopsack. It weighs 370 g, feels soft and smooth, and comes in a mixed mid grey. Because it is a knit, it is more yielding and less formal than a woven suiting.
