Grey Prince of Wales Check Fresco® Wool Tailored Jacket
Drake's single-breasted jacket is cut in a grey Prince of Wales check fresco, the open, high-twist wool cloth long used for town suits that have to cope with warm days. It follows the house pattern: a soft natural shoulder, light waist shaping and a 3-roll-2 front, with a full canvas, a hand-shaped chest and a wide notch lapel with a full belly. Made in Italy as half of a suit, it can be worn with its matching trousers or on its own as a check jacket with plain separates.

Loro Piana Fabric Grey and Blue Glen Plaid Flannel Hudson Jacket
We kept the grey glen check and the tailoring of the original, but Proper Cloth had no fresco in a similar check, so we chose a Loro Piana glen plaid flannel in grey with a blue overcheck at a comparable weight. We matched the details that define the jacket: a soft full canvas with no shoulder padding, a 3-roll-2 notch lapel, flap pockets with a ticket pocket, a single centre vent, four-button cuffs and dark brown horn buttons. Proper Cloth's quarter lining stands in for the buggy lining, and the softer flannel gives the jacket a warmer, more autumnal character than the dry, open fresco.
An Italian flannel from Loro Piana, listed as 86% wool, 4% cashmere and 10% silk at about 290 g, with a soft, brushed twill hand. It is a grey glen plaid with a blue overcheck, a cloth suited to cooler weather that drapes softly and grows more supple with wear.
