The Mk. VII is part of Drake's Games series, a set of blazers that sit between sharp tailoring and something looser and easier to wear. This version was developed around woollen cloth, so it leans a little more towards tailoring than other Games jackets, with lined sleeves and slanted pockets at the chest and hip that take their cue from the house's own tailored block. It is cut shorter and fuller than a traditional jacket and is meant for everyday wear, over knitwear or a shirt, in most weather.

VBC Brown and Burgundy Guncheck Downing Jacket

We could not find a houndstooth tweed in Proper Cloth's range that matched the original's brown and green colouring, so we chose a brown guncheck flannel from Vitale Barberis Canonico, which keeps the earthy, small-scale check and the cold-weather weight in a softer, brushed cloth. We matched the soft build of the original: no canvas, unlined body with lined sleeves, notch lapels, ventless back and dark horn buttons. The standard design gave us a two-button front and straight flapped pockets, so we kept those in place of the original's single button and slanted barchetta-style pockets.

A 100% merino wool flannel woven by Vitale Barberis Canonico in Biella, medium heavyweight, with a brushed, slightly fuzzy surface and a soft hand. The pattern is a guncheck in brown with a burgundy overcheck, suited to autumn and winter wear.
