Black Barathea Wool Dinner Jacket
Drake's dinner jacket is a take on the single-breasted evening jacket, the black tie standard since the early twentieth century, made in a softer form than usual. It is cut in the house's relaxed tailoring with a natural shoulder and no lining, so it keeps its evening details while losing the stiffness of traditional formalwear. Grosgrain peak lapels and covered buttons mark it out as eveningwear. It is sold as part of a suit and is meant for black tie, though the soft construction means it can be worn more loosely.

Reda Black Hopsack Bedford Jacket
We chose a black merino hopsack from Reda because it gives a solid black wool with a visible surface texture, which is the nearest Proper Cloth equivalent to the textured barathea of the original. We kept the single-button peak lapel, unlined body, soft half-canvassed construction and jetted hip pockets so the outline and feel match. The version as made has no grosgrain lapel facings and uses black faux horn buttons with four kissing buttons at the cuff, so it reads as a plain black jacket rather than a strict dinner jacket.
A Super 110s merino wool hopsack woven by Reda in Italy, weighing about 270 grams. The basket weave gives it a clearly open, textured surface in solid black, and its fairly light weight and breathable structure make it suitable for wear across most of the year.
