Navy Tussah Silk Double-Breasted Tailored Jacket
This is a double-breasted blazer in navy tussah silk, made in Italy with a half-canvas construction. It draws on the long tradition of the navy double-breasted jacket but takes a relaxed line, with a soft natural shoulder and patch pockets in place of the more formal jetted kind. The raw spun silk carries visible slubs, which give the plain navy a broken, uneven surface. It is cut to be worn casually as well as with tailored trousers.

Double Breasted Reda Navy Hopsack Bedford Jacket
We kept the jacket solid navy and looked for a cloth with real surface texture, choosing Reda's merino hopsack because its open basket weave gives a gently irregular face at a similar middle weight. Silk was not part of the choice here, so the slubby character of the tussah is suggested by the weave rather than matched by the fibre. We set the six-on-two peak lapel front, soft half-canvas make, patch pockets and dark grey horn buttons to follow the original. The cuffs are four buttons set kissing, and we lined the jacket to a quarter with side vents.
An Italian merino wool hopsack from Reda in a Super 110s quality, weighing about 270 g. The open basket weave gives a lightly textured, breathable cloth with a dry hand that looks somewhat like linen. It is solid navy, and because it is merino it recovers well from creasing.
