Ecru Ramie-Canapa Double-Breasted Tailored Jacket
This is a double-breasted tailored jacket in an undyed ecru blend of ramie and hemp. It is cut to the Drake's house silhouette, with a 6x2 button stance and a wide peak lapel. The cloth has much of the look of linen but holds its shape better, and the intention is that it serves in warm weather much as a worsted twill does in the cooler months. It is fully canvassed and made in Italy with a hand-attached collar and sleeves. It is sold as part of a suit and can also be worn on its own with other trousers.

Natural Beige Irish Linen Bedford Jacket
The ramie and hemp blend is not offered by Proper Cloth, so we chose a pure Irish linen plain weave in natural beige. It is close in colour and slubbed texture, and its medium heavy weight goes some way towards the body of the original. We set the jacket as a soft, fully canvassed six-button double-breasted model with peak lapels, flapped hip pockets with a ticket pocket, horn buttons and a four-button cuff. Proper Cloth's horn options led us to light brown buttons instead of tonal ecru ones.
A pure linen plain weave from Baird McNutt, the Irish mill founded in 1798. It is medium heavy, with a soft, textured hand and a slightly irregular weave. The natural beige shows tonal variation through the cloth. Like any linen, it breathes well and drapes easily, and it will crease more readily in wear than a ramie and hemp blend.
